In my studio last night

Last night when I sat down to do a bit of drawing I have to admit I was less than enthusiastic. That seems to be how it goes with me, peeks & troughs.
Anyway when I started drawing ribbons for a wedding invite I got inspired. Yes its strange where inspiration can come from.

This was great because I was struggling as to how to approach the other notion I had, which was doing designs for a wall piece.

So here is a WIP or work in progress drawing I did as a way of working through some ideas for a wall piece that I would like to do.

......and here are the design ideas.

In my studio this week

I'm so lucky in that I have had so much time in the studio lately, and I have actually wanted to do drawing too, which always helps. Here is what it looked like.

Street Style Sunny side up

This week I felt compelled, maybe by the sun, to look for cool yellow fashion.
Check out what I found here

Gettin the brush wet again

It has been a while since I have done anything in ink, I think I get scared if Ive been away from something for too long, as in afraid to give it a go in case I make a big mess.

But I was in the studio, listening to some music and got the goo for some painting with ink.
So basically I did, and I enjoyed it a lot.

Its actually so nice to have the time to give over to drawing for a change.

And here they are ....

Another pen illustration

This one I was not all that sure about initially but then I revisited it and was happy enough with the result.
I'm enjoying trying out this way of working.

Not so Plain white Tee

I had promised my sister ages ago that I would draw on some t-shirts for her son, went and bought said t-shirts and shamefully did nothing for ages.

Its a typical artist thing I think, afraid to start some thing in case it doesn't work out.

Anyway I got my act together this week and quite enjoyed doing them.
What I enjoyed most was when I gave them to him he kept coming back to have a look at the one with the cars on.

Now that made me happy!

Here are the work in progress photos and the finished pieces.

Drawing men for a change

A friend of mine asked me to do a drawing of a man in the style that I have been doing lately.
So here it is.

These are drawings done directly in pen without post production, its a bit of an experiment and Im enjoying the challenge alot.

Inside my sisters studio

When I stayed over with my sister during the week, I took some sneaky pics of some illustrations that she had up in her studio and I thought I would share them. I know Im biased but I just love the quirky content of the drawings and crazy little characters that she gives personality too in her drawings.

Keep in mind I took them with my phone so the quality is not great.
